how do i hide the icon that comes up when i get a new layout like its says

There is a code in your layout that shows the little banner. Look at the end of the code. Where the last <style> starts. Find that and delete that part of the code until the end of the code. Then that will get rid of the little banner.

Most sites that advertise their site on a Myspace layout have a link using <a href="URL_HERE"> and some times an image <img src="IMAGE_URL.gif">. Usually if your using those ordinary layouts (not using an overlay) the tags should be in your about me after an ending </style> tag.
