Do XBOX 360 and the PC play on the same COD4 server?

i play COD4 on the PC and a friend plays it on Xbox 360.
someone told us that we can play against each other because it plays on the same server even though we are on different systems. .
is this true?

Since they're both Microsoft and powered by Live (not Xbox Live, but Live) I don't see why it wouldn't work.
