Default Arch Linux X Server Troubles?

Hi, I am using the propriety ATI driver on my computer (or trying). A couple of days ago i installed Arch and used the exact same setup as this install and it worked.I did an "Xorg -configure", then copied the file over to "/etc/X11/xorg.conf", then i ran aticonfig with this command "aticonfig --initial=dual-head --input=/etc/X11/xorg.conf" and "aticonfig --dtop=horizontal --overlay-on=1". I also have a ~/.xinitrc file which reads "exec xterm".This time, when I do "startx" my right monitor looses connection and my left monitor remains blank, I cannot exit out of this unless I reboot the machine. I see no reason why this is happening. Could i have forgotten to do something? Thank you for you help.
