Hi,
I am trying to learn visual basic in order to learn visual basic.net...is there any other languagge I can learn before jump to visual basic.net...because i opened a book of visual baisc.net,and i dont understand any of the content..I usally practice in C, C++ etc..what is the pre requirement fo learn visual baisc.net? please let me know thank you mike |

Learning VB before VB.net will not help you very much. I've had experience with both, and I'd have to say that they're about the same to start.
Seeing that you have a background in C and C++, you should be able to pick up VB.net easily, if you have any background in object-oriented programming. If you don't have any background in OOP, it'll be confusing, and I suggest you learn it first in a book that targets OOP. It can be in any language, but I suggest Java because of how closely it revolves around the concept. I don't know why you'd want to learn VB and VB.net - I don't see any advantages of it over C++ with a widget set and GUI designer or Java + NetBeans. I learned things the other way around, starting with VB, and after learning C, C++, and Java, I am actually embarrassed to have ever learned VB. |
